A community play for Wellingborough.
WELL...ROUGH was written using stories of the town and borough collected from individuals and groups, and historical research from the museum and wider reading.
The commission was to celebrate Wellingborough now, but it became clear to me that the ‘now’ can only exist because of what came before and somehow that still lives on. This was a lovely project for me to be involved with – meeting lots of people, delving into history, stepping up to the challenge of writing for a very large cast of 65 actors. The final production had a special magic, thanks to Sarah Chiswell-Hornett’s great talent at bringing together, inspiring, and keeping together, such a large cast and production team.
